Ella

Laid-back Ella draws travelers to Sri Lanka’s highlands with its mountain forests, tea plantations, and relatively cool climate. The wildlife-rich region is also home to caves, cascades, and secluded temples—plus the Ella Gap, which offers lofty views between a cleft in two hills.

Demodara Nine Arch Bridge – Flanked by thick jungle and tea plantations; this architecturally stunning stone bridge stands proudly across a lush green gorge in the hill country just outside Ella. This bridge, which is almost 100 years old, has been built with blocks of stone and cement without any strengthening iron or concrete. The giant arches take the bridge on a curved path to link to mountains. The Bridge was commissioned in 1921 under the British Government.

Mini Adams Peak – The closest and easiest hike in Ella. It is 1141 m in height and from the entrance it takes up to 30-45 min for the hike. Views from the summit are incredible. 360 degrees panoramic views with clouds rolling in, a treat to watch.

Ravana Falls & Cave – The falls are quite impressive, and currently ranks as one of the widest falls in the country. It is named after the legendary character Ravana, which is connected to the famous Indian epic, the Ramayana. Ravana (who was the king of Sri Lanka at the time) kidnapped princess Sita, and hid her in the caves behind this waterfall.

Flying Ravana Adventure Park – Located amidst the luscious green estates of Ella, Sri Lanka’s first-ever Mega zip-line offers a bird’s-eye view of the beautiful hills of the island. Designed for adventure enthusiasts and adrenaline junkies who prefer a not-so-ordinary hillside experience, the park offers ATV/quad bike rides, Abseiling, Archery, and Air rifling for a gripping outdoor experience.

Ravana Pool Club – Enjoy a dose of fun at Sri Lanka’s first-ever international pool club, inspired by Balinese architecture, overlooking Little Adam’s Peak and Ella Rock. Relax in the infinity pool, step into a heated jacuzzi or soak in some rays on the comfy day beds as you take in the mesmerizing views of the mountainscapes of Ella.
